VIP Crisis Consultation’s mission is to provide Police Departments and social service professionals with the ability to better serve the community by assisting in the development of crisis intervention services and/or social service departments.

With recent calls to “defund” police departments, many have focused on shifting responsibilities and funding away from police departments.

Many suggestions include “replacing” the police with “social workers.” It’s unlikely that police will ever be able to completely disengage from these types of social service types calls. Social services providers often need police to ensure their safety especially with individuals who are behaving in a manner that can put themselves or others in harm's way.
